Here you can view the city of Quetzaltenango from 10 miles up courtesy of Google Earth. The city nestles between the surrounding mountains which form the main central belt that crosses Guatemala from East to West. This is a volcanically active region. Quetzaltenango itself lies just North of volcanoes Santa María and Santiaguito, the largest of which, Santa María, dominates the city's skyline (see photo below and detailed Google image).
